3 types of Lumiere brand salt lamps were included and there were actually two recalls issued, one in January of 2017 and also one in May 2017.  According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, “The dimmer switch and/or outlet plug can overheat and ignite, posing shock and fire hazards.” They instruct to unplug your lamp immediately.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

These lamps were sold between July and December of 2016. You may visit or contact the store you purchased from for a full refund or replacement.

Alternative to dimmer switches

Most of the salt lamps available on the market are of the same light color, which is beautiful, but for a lot of people they are just too bright and impractical. Here at the Salt Lady, we don’t suggest or use dimmer cords, however we do have the darkest salt lamps available and they come with a UL listed cord with an on/off switch! Due to the rarity of dark salt lamps, they do cost a little more, but the benefits outweigh the cost.  Most people notice a difference in their air quality or breathing when they have a salt lamp in their bedroom or on a nightstand and keep them on all the time. If you turn off your salt lamp, it is not going to be nearly as effective, and it also has a small possibility of dripping due to humidity.
